FCPAN’s programming philosophy is to:

--To serve Fort Collins by providing cable access to amplify the events and perspectives unique to our community.

--To reduce the barriers to access for local community members and organizations whose message may otherwise have no access to cable television.

--To cultivate, facilitate, produce and air locally relevant television programming by educating, enabling and empowering local producers and organizations.

--To provide ANY quality non-local programming that expresses opinions or perspectives that do not otherwise receive widespread access to cable television.

--To maintain an open invitation to anyone in the community who has something to show or say, regardless of politics, popularity or likeability.

There is no fee to submit programming to Ch.97 and the process is opened to everyone.

To submit NON-Profit Public Service Announcements, info, or events:

This community service does not apply to for-profit events or organizations.

1. Submit a PowerPoint or Apple Keynote slide for your announcement.

Slide must have a 10% boundary around the sides. Text outside that border may be cut off by the television.
Any photos or logos in the PowerPoint slide must be less that 500k in size. See very important below.

OR

2. Submit just your text about an event and a logo and we will design a simple slide to show on channel 97.

Either option is fine. Option 1. just saves us more time. Please spell check.

Email the announcements to the Program Director. Be sure to let us know when the relevant times begin and end for your announcement. Your non-profit may have announcements on indefinitely.

Very Important: You cannot mention ticket prices, only how or where to buy them. Please do not send a full page of text or a long press release. Your submission must be very short and the type has to be big enough to be seen on TV. Text on the TV will look grainier than it did on your computer. It should be at least a 22 point font. If it is not big enough, people may think your organization is filled with uptight people who write small all the time. Send approx. 3-5 sentences in three short paragraphs: What, Who, When, Where. Think billboard, not manifesto. Be as brief as you can, with big letters. Use a clear font that isn't fancy. If it is too small or unreadable we won't run the announcement.

To submit artwork, poetry and prose:

For photos of art, make sure the photos are between 200k and 500k in size. Jpeg format is preferable, others are fine. Include the same info you might include if your art was showing at a gallery, except price. Make sure everything is spelled exactly as you want it. Remember the little Stonehenge from the movie Spinal Tap?
We will just copy and paste what you send.
For submitting poetry or prose, think in terms of TV. You have one screen to work with. Think short attention span. If your text is too long, the font size will be too small for anyone to see. Watch channel 97 for examples of how much you can fit per screen. Make sure everything is spelled exactly how you want it to look on tv.

Include your name, title, etc. We will try to reproduce any formatting of your text, but can’t give a guarantee. Email submissions to the Program Director

To submit videos:

Download Program Submittal form below. This must be filled out completely and submitted with every video. If not, your video will fall into the void.
If your video contains any material that may be considered “obscene,” please don’t submit it without discussion with the program director. If you have questions, ask us. Your video must contain credits at the beginning OR ending. If your video is longer than 15mins. seriously consider putting text up at regular intervals to remind the viewer what they are watching.

All videos, unless other arraignments are made, will not be returned.

All DVD's must be labeled directly on the DVD disc.

Format:
Data DVDs with your video as a single (not a separate audio and video) Mpeg2 file would be ideal. If not, a standard DVD that plays on home DVD players will work fine. We cannot accommodate VHS unless you have something really, really, really incredible like the last supper or the shooter from the grassy knoll.

A note about "non-commercial:" We use PBS guidelines. You can view them here.
If you are looking to get someone to underwrite a show you are producing, please view the Underwriting Page.
It is against the rules of a non-commercial TV station to run commercial programming. For-profit businesses may be mentioned, but only in passing, in the credits, "thanks to" etc. Be very conservative. If you have questions about this, please save yourself some time before you produce a video, and just ask us by email at programming[AT]fcpan.org or 970-581-2730.

If you would like to promote your business on Ch.97 you may do so very affordably by becoming an FCPAN underwriter

Mail or drop off video submissions to:

Would you like to do a video soapbox?

Do you have an opinion you would like to express? What do you feel strongly about? Give us a call and we will try our best to help you get your opinion aired on Ch.97. We can help you film one.

Do you want to do a regular show on channel 97?

1. Presently, FCPAN/channel 97 has no studio facilities. We are happy to accept regular shows, but they must be produced entirely on your own. They could be once a week, once a month, or a regular schedule that fits your time commitment. You would be handing us a completed DVD to play on a regular basis.

2. For more info call Eddie at 970-581-2730.
